Fashions fade, style is eternal. YVES SAINT LAURENT
We may rely on the latest trends to keep ourselves updated with what’s going on in the fashion industry, but in reality they’re really not needed, especially if you’re tying to create an outfit that makes a personal statement.
When dressing for yourself, do what your heart desires, seek trends for inspiration purposes, not to transform your entire look, they’re there to enhance your ensembles, not to transfigure you into a totally new person (but if you want to, that’s cool too!). Whether you’re rocking an oversized heavy-knitted sweater with your favorite sandals in the summer, or mixing colorful prints from head to toe, just do you (no guidelines needed).

The way we style ourselves says something about who we are, and what we have to say, it’s self expression. In the words of the late Gianni Versace “Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.”
