With school back in session (well for me that is), and for our hard working women headed to the office, what’s better than putting outfits together that’s inspired straight from the runway? Nothing. Today we will be focusing on the Alice and Olivia Fall Ready-to-Wear 2011 Collection; these looks are definitely modern chic. There were so many fabulous outfits to get inspired from, but I only chose two, so you can at least get an idea of how you can get inspiration from them.
School of Excellence
The model in the picture above is wearing this red and black tweed blazer, but I think this houndstooth blazer is more snazzy then the original outerwear piece. I paired this ensemble with a white tank, because unlike the blazer above that doesn’t button up, this blazer actually does (and I also think buttoned up, this jacket looks cuter), so I would recommend wearing a tank underneath, so the fabric wouldn’t rub against your skin (because sometimes it can be a little irritating).
While some of us prefer not to wear tulle-like ballerina skirts, I went with this black pleated skirt instead, because not only does it looks edgy I decided to go with a black skirt that was not so black-swanish looking. As you can see, I stayed with the black and white color scheme when it came to these adorable modernized oxford heels, and this nice tote is perfect for your school books, a laptop, or anything else needed for your school/work place.
Indulging in Sophistication
I love this outfit entirely too much, it’s perfect for Fall, and even though this outfit is totally different from the picture muse, I wanted to go with something that was effortless but still sophisticated chic. Wearing a dress, makes it very easy for any woman, because what’s left to style your outfit are the accessories, and since we already have a muse in front of us, this will be a no brainer.
This long sleeve dress is the perfect transition from Fall to Winter, and on the dress the bright orange belt gives off the right amount of color, while the navy bottom portion of the skirt accentuates your curves. I decided not to do a skirt based off the original picture, because the skirt was too toddler-ish for me, and it was gold, making it harder for people to actually go out and find one.
So what’s the next best thing besides a gold skirt? Wearing gold accessories, to add glitz and sparkle to your ensemble, without looking too shiny. I added the animal print ring, because I feel that this look couldn’t have been completed without it, and the brown boots I have chosen were a great stylish steal from Wetseal, and are even similar to the boots the model is wearing.
